Republic Day and Protesting Farmers: Jai Jawan Jai Kisaan!

A popular Indian slogan – Jai Jawan Jai Kisaan was started by Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1965 which means Hail Soldiers for protecting us and Hail Farmers for feeding us!. 26th January The Republic Day is the day when we Indians and the world gets to see and salute the power of the Indian Army in the eminent parade of Republic Day.

But this year the Parade will be different, going with the slogan of Jai Jawan Jai Kisan when we won’t just see the soldiers’ parade but a parallel farmer parade as well!

Farmer Protest

Started on 26th November 2020, the protest will complete 2 months on the coming Republic Day. The protest started to repeal the 3 farm laws considered as black laws by the farmers. The participants of the protest decided to have a parade on 26th January 2021 along with the Republic Parade.

About the Parade

A guideline was issued by the Farmer Unions mentioning how the parade of tractors and other vehicles colored in Tricolor will take place. Expecting more than 25,000 tractors to form a part of this parade, guidelines clearly mentioned rules to be followed to avoid any violation of the law.

No music system, no racing or littering, and many more such rules were laid down. A helpline number is also issued to be a part of the parade. All AAP MLAs also have decided to be part of the parade to show their support.  According to police, the parade will take at least 48 hours to conclude!

Reaction on the Parade

Many steps have been taken to stop the parade. Republic Day and protesting farmers: Jai Jawan Jai Kisaan!

Posters of ‘No Petrol to Tractors’ is going viral on social media is being seen put up at many places though the maker of the same is unknown. Police of Delhi and near-by places are on high alert considering the farmer parade.

Other Parade

Thousands of farmers from Nashik and 23 other districts marched towards Mumbai on Sunday covering more than 180 km on foot and vehicles. The idea is to move towards the national capital for the 26th January parade.

A rally is expected to take place at the Azad Medan of Mumbai which is expected to be attended by NCP supremo Sharad Pawar. Many other farmers from all around India are moving towards the National Capital to be a part of the Farmer Parade while tractors from Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana has already reached the Tikri Border.

The world will see not just the supremacy of the Indian Army but also of the farmers and common men of India fighting for their rights!
